in a small group with a Professional Coach each week.
Each skater will

$60 for 10 lessons and a second set of lessons may be purchased for an
additional $60.
Private Lessons

Canada Certified Coaches teach your skater in an individually customized
program.
You choose the
Coach and the amount of lessons you want.
Lessons are given
on the skaters CanSkate / KidSkate, STARskate or Special Ice session.
You pay private
lessons to the Coach. These costs are over and above your session costs
starting at $9 and up for a 15 minute lesson.
What you should know when choosing a Professional
Coach
Different Coaches
have achieved different levels in the National Coaching Certification
Program. Consideration should be given as to what level a Coach has
completed.
What level did
the Coach personally achieve themselves in Skating? While this does not
mean a Coach cannot teach something they could not do themselves,
experience is an asset.
How long has the
Coach been coaching? Once again, experience is an asset.
What has the
Coach accomplished in his or her coaching career? Have they helped skaters
achieve Gold Tests (the highest level in the test stream) and have they had
skaters compete at a national or international level?
The most
important consideration is to find a coach with a personality, which will
be compatible with your skater. Your Coach
must be able to show your child and instil in them the love and enjoyment
of skating while giving them the incentive required to progress and
achieve.
Finally, not all
Coach/Student combinations work. If you experience this it does not mean
the end of your childs skating. Switching to a different Coach is
completely acceptable.
WHAT DOES ALL
THIS MEAN?
At Skate Sarnia we look to help provide a fun,
active, challenging sport for your child to enjoy. There are many
opportunities within skating to experience. If you have questions or
concerns do not hesitate to ask one of the professional coaches or board
members.
